Phon has over 40 years of experience in training fighters. Over his career, he has trained more than 30 champions and has promoted over 60 events. He was born in Saraburi, near the ancient capital Ayutthaya, about 80kms north of Bangkok. “When I was about eight years old I had already learned the basics of Muay Thai from my Uncle, a former Muay Thai champion. I had watched Muay Thai for as long as I can remember on TV, learning through watching the greats who fought every week.
Whenever there was a festival in our province, and they advertised for locals to compete, I would rush to weigh-in and put myself forward to compete. Throughout my time at college, I regularly competed in Muay Thai matches and was chosen to represent Thailand in the Under 21s national soccer team. After that, I worked in Bangkok for six years as a Physical Education and Recreation teacher at a Technical. I came to Australia in 1985 and in 1988 a high ranking official from the Sporting Authority of Thailand suggested that we open an authentic Muay Thai school as Australia was far behind the rest of the world with regards to the sport of Muay Thai.
